After a drive along the coast between the Taurus mountains and the Mediterranean sea you arrive at Çayağzı or Üçağız marina in Demre. Than we get on a typical wooden boat for around a one and half hour cruise, see the ruins of the sunken city on Kekova Island. We stop in a bay for swimming. (season and weather permitting).
Than we get on our coach,visit Myra ancient city which is the most well preserved region between the Lycian cities.Myra ancient city is also was one of the most important port city of the Lycian Empires and an important center of religion.We see amazing rock tombs of the Lycian Kings and ancient Roman-Greek theatre.
After our exploration of the ancient city of Myra, we proceeded to visit the Church of St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus or St. Nikola. St. Nicholas resided in the 4th century and served as a bishop in the same city. His fame grew significantly due to the tale of his three daughters. He is esteemed as a saint across various Christian denominations and is famously associated with the tradition of giving gifts, especially to children. The story of Saint Nicholas is the basis for the popular modern-day figure of Santa Claus, who is said to deliver presents to children on Christmas Eve. Saint Nicholas gained a reputation for his acts of kindness and generosity, commonly depicted as a merry elder adorned with a snowy beard. Many people around the world continue to celebrate the feast day of Saint Nicholas on December 6th.
